Food was delicious. Had scrambled eggs with diced ham and onions, hash browns and toast. Really great, but service took forever, waitress was so rude and hair was in both me and my friends food

We walked in and didn't have a server come to our table for 10 minutes. After putting in our order, our food had still not come up after 1 hour! Service was horrible, servers were rude, and we never did get our food. A manager wouldn't even come up to talk to us, so we left. The restaurant wasn't even busy! There were only 5 tables , three being one-tops, and 2 servers!

I like the expanded space for AJ's. In fact I think this place suited restaurants here in the past nicely. It's well lit and plenty of large windows to look out onto the street. The staff is friendly and seem attentive but the food isn't all that superb. I got sausage gravy and biscuits on this morning and the gravy felt a bit bland. Coffee isn't super great but tastes like coffee. The menu is pretty much standard diner fare, nothing real special stood out for me. I might try lunch sometime, if I'm in the mood for a "basic" lunch.

Service is slow and restaurant seems understaffed. I had an omelet which was ok but not spectacular. The English muffin was burnt with way too much butter. Potatoes were undercooked. My husband had pancakes which were also just ok. Microwaveable bacon was not good. Really was hoping for more- won't be back.

Eggs Benedict special was good. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Scrambled eggs, and hash were good. Home fries were great. Fair prices. Quick service. We were in and out and left happy and full

Slow and not very attentive service. So so food; not bad when you don't want to drive somewhere further but not a destination eatery by any stretch.

I love this place. It's a classic greasy spoon and you can always tell the good ones by how many old people eat there. It's just true. Today, I was the only diner under the age of 70. I had the Anything Omelette. It was cooked perfectly and a hearty size, home fries are traditional, which means good, and the coffee was delicious and plentiful. The service here is always good, but not always fast. The prices are perfect but the hours are too short. That's my only quibble with most diners.

I showed up at AJ's after 2 colleagues said they had enjoyed it in the past. After they said I should join them one morning, we went to go have some breakfast. A previous reviewer is correct, the average customer was elderly, I mean, one of the advertisements on the coffee cups is for a cremation company, "only 1500$ to cremate your loved one!". Classy. Unlike the previous reviewer, however, I do not equate older patrons with tasty food, in fact quite the opposite. My scrambled eggs were cold and had been cut up like a kids meal. Over cooked and left to sit, the cook had obviously thought it a good idea to cut my food for me, thanks. Sausage was the cheap wrinkled kind, again, lukewarm and over cooked. Short stack of pancakes was under cooked and was served with Grade "B" light amber syrup. It was the consistency of water. This is Vermont, we have the best syrup in the world here, and I got served such generic, low grade syrup, I would have preferred Aunt Jemima's finest. Worst breakfast I ever paid for and they brought shame to Vermont by serving such cheap syrup. I feel totally ripped off.

Went for dinner tonight. We have gone here for breakfast in the past and it serves a decent breakfast. Tonight,we thought we would try it for dinner. Very poor choice. My husband ordered a roast beef sub. It was $9.95 for this tiny sandwich. Go around the block to Martones and get a wonderful roast beef sub for less money. I got the haddock sandwich. It was pretty crispy but edible. We won't be going here again for dinner.

Happened upon AJ's kitchen when we were in search of a late weekday morning breakfast (err make that afternoon) while vacationing in Vermont. The breakfast (served all day until 2pm) was exactly what we were looking for - a no-frills, hearty breakfast. The home fries were excellent and the prices we very reasonable - particularly the advertised lunch specials.
